Post-Tan Care

Post-Tan Care

Your glow will continue to develop over the next several hours, and the steps you take afterward make all the difference in how beautifully it sets and fades.

Follow these care tips to maintain a flawless, long-lasting tan.

While Your Tan is Developing

  • Avoid water, sweating, or skin contact until your first rinse — this includes workouts, washing hands, or applying lotions and perfume.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing and skip tight bras or leggings that could rub against developing color.

  • If you received a rapid tan, your rinse time will be shared during your appointment — typically 2–6 hours depending on your desired depth.

  • For a classic tan, wait at least 8–10 hours before rinsing.

Your First Rinse

  • Rinse with lukewarm water only — no soap, body wash, or loofah.

  • Be sure to rinse thoroughly until the guide bronzer runs completely clear.

  • You’ll rinse the bronzer away, but don’t worry — your tan will continue to process and deepen for up to 24 hoursafter your appointment.

  • Gently pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing.

  • Wait to apply lotions or oils until your tan has fully developed (about 24 hours).

Skin Sensitivities & Conditions

  • If you have eczema, psoriasis, or dry patches, apply a small amount of a plain, oil-free moisturizer to those areas before your session and keep them hydrated afterward. These spots can absorb color differently and may fade faster.

  • Retinols, AHAs, BHAs, acne medications, and exfoliating products can cause your tan to fade more quickly or appear uneven. Pause these products for several days before and after tanning if possible.

  • Avoid tanning over recent sunburns or peeling skin, even from weeks prior. Spray solutions can cling unevenly to compromised skin and create blotchy results.

Ongoing Care

  • Moisturize daily using an oil-free, tan-safe lotion to extend your glow and prevent dryness.

  • Avoid products containing mineral oil, alcohol, or harsh exfoliants, which can cause patchiness.

  • Limit long baths, hot tubs, and pools, as soaking can cause premature fading.

  • When showering, continue using a gel-based body wash and skip bar soaps or heavy creams.

As Your Tan Fades

  • Around day 5–7, begin gentle exfoliation to promote an even fade.

  • When you’re ready for your next appointment, exfoliate thoroughly 24–48 hours before your new tan to start fresh.
